My Name Poem by Yeshiembet/Yeshi Gemaneh Poet

For none Amharic speakers
This name is difficult to pronounce
Some trying to make it short
Not as mindful as in fullness
My mother loved to call me in full
She used to get mad when abbreviated
It sounds meticulous when she said it, “Yeshiembet”
Means mistress of thousand
With imaginary meaning
Whether applying in reality or not
That was irrelevant to her
In return I have not given her special name
Except calling her my dearest mother
That would renew the burning torch
 Even after she is gone
