And On That Night… Poem by Zoraida Rivera Poet

The truth is best
to be told…

For when a lie
is told.
no one knows..
only you…

Deep inside your heart
you hide that lie…

It’ll will eat you up inside…

I know is hard but
You shouldn’t lie,
I’ll tell you why…

For this I know…

One lie is told, then one more
then ten fold of lies you had told..

You’re only end up with a silly look
on your face,
while inside, your heart
you’re being torn apart…

Until you had enough,
of telling lies…
you’ll end up spending
all of your days and all
of your nignts,
wonding what?,
wondering how to get out this mess?.

You’ll ask yourself
what should I say?…
should I say this?,
or should I say that?
to cover up that lie
you told…

You’ll drive yourself up the wall!

I tell you this, my friend,
clean up your act…

Just tell the truth!

Go to the one you told a lie
you’ll be suprise you
might get a hug,
or get ready cause
you just might get
a slap on your face…

But, no matter what’s
the out come…

You made peace
within yourself…
and on that night…

You’ll sleep like a baby…
